The JRPG has found a new home on mobile. Whether it's ports of classic games or new experiences built from the ground up for mobile, there are loads of JRPGs waiting for you on the App Store and Play Store.

For the past couple of years we've been keeping a regularly updated list of every new game that lands on Apple Arcade. It was getting a bit long and unwieldy, so we're starting a new list for 2022.

Now that we've finished our round up of the best games that came out for iOS, Android and Apple Arcade over the last 12 months, we thought it was a good idea to look forward to the game's we're all going to be playing in 2022.

In today's list of the best games that have come out over the past 12 months, we're taking a look at the Switch. And boy, has it been a good year if you like your gaming to take place on a hybrid console-handheld. 

It's been another pretty damn good year for mobile gaming, a fact highlighted perhaps by the games that haven't made it into our breakdown of the ten best iPhone and iPad releases of the last 12 months. 

In the second part of our look back at the best games that have come out over the last 12 months, it's time to take a deep dive into the Google Play Store. And there have been some real gems landing on Android devices in 2021.
