Ever wanted a pet but just didn't have the space, time or money to raise one? Well, if you're a Facebook user all you need is a few minutes per day to make a cute and cuddly bunny, kitten, puppy or even a bear happy in the new year.
The game is Pet Society, a cute little world created by Playfish, a social game company founded by casual and mobile industry veterans.
iPhone Fridays: Take Fish Tycoon with you!
The first time I played a game on the iPhone, I remember thinking: this would be such a great device for Last Day of Work’s (LDW) real-time game environments. The folks of LDW must have come up with the same obvious conclusion, because they recently launched their virtual fish-breeding game, Fish Tycoon, for the iPhone/iTouch.
Web Wednesdays: Bricks Breaking
Earlier this month Mochi Media released its list of the 10 most popular flash games of 2008, and Bricks Breaking was number eight. It's a simple puzzle game where the goal is to clear a grid by clicking on groups of like-colored bricks to destroy them. Other bricks collapse in to fill the space, so there's a fair bit of strategy involved in planning ahead and predicting where the bricks are going to fall. If you get stuck, you can use a limited supply of magic wands to remove single bricks. The game ends when you can't make any more moves and have run out of wands. I love playing games, online and off, but what I hate the most is having to play them alone. The dilema lies in finding someone who likes the games I do and is willing to play a simple game like jigsaw puzzles with me. With the game Jigsawce (part of Iminlikewithyou.com), I don't have to play alone because people who want to play puzzles with me are never in short supply.

Mesmo TV is a large Facebook gathering place for television and movie buffs that has everything from message boards, trivia and quizzes to video content and games, but the part of the application that we're going to focus on for this week's Social Saturday feature is Make Me a Celebrity, a sim where you claw your way up the celebrity ladder until you're famous enough to rub elbows with the rich and famous.

Let's Get Cookin' is a Web game that follows in the tradition of Cooking Mama and Top Chef. You'll get to prepare 10 meals including Stir Fried Vegetables, Pasta Primavera and Salmon with Tomato Risotto by following recipes that you can later print out and use in your own kitchen.
